The brief
CBG was appointed following a competitive procurement process to re-clad the Grand Ocean building at Saltdean — a landmark residential building on the Sussex coast, occupied throughout the works.
The building's prominence and its coastal exposure shaped the whole approach: full encapsulation of the scaffold, careful protection of the surrounding public realm, and a sequence that kept residents in their homes from start to finish.
Communication was run as a discipline in its own right. The client's property management team was kept continuously informed, issues were addressed as they arose rather than banked for a monthly report, and our site teams dealt with residents directly and well.
Before the re-cladding reached completion, the client instructed us to carry out the re-rendering of the building — a repeat award made on the strength of the first phase.

Client reference
They have been outstanding, and as we reach the end of the re-cladding we have instructed them to undertake the re-rendering of the building. Perhaps one of the main differences with other companies of this size is the workers themselves. They have been great with the residents, who have all sung their praises.
