Home / About / Environmental, Social, and Governance
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) isn't a separate workstream at CBG. It sits in the policies our site teams work to every day. This page sets out what those policies say and how we apply them.
Most of what we do is removing combustible cladding from buildings that people live in. The building stays occupied while we work. The residents behind the scaffold are the first people affected by how we run a site, and the ones who live with the result long after we've gone.
Everything on this page follows from that. Our policies were last reviewed on 14 January 2026 and are held under continual review — they're working documents, not a folder we open at tender stage.
Environment
Our Environmental Policy sets objectives and targets annually and reviews them through the year. The order of priority is fixed: avoid the impact, then operate more efficiently, then replace or mitigate what's left. Offsetting is a last resort, used only where a carbon-intensive activity couldn't be avoided by any of those.
Waste handled under our environmental management system.
The policy is shared with suppliers, partners and consultants.
Residents
A Resident Liaison Officer is appointed at project commencement and stays until handover. Residents get a named person, not a site office number.
Our people
Our Health and Safety Policy gives every employee a formal route to object on safety grounds. If it can't be settled between the parties on site, it goes to the Health and Safety Manager, and then to a director. Nobody is expected to carry out work they aren't trained and experienced to do.
The company objective is zero reportable accidents and incidents. It's set by top management, driven by the director responsible for health and safety, and reviewed at annual management review.
Supply chain
Our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy applies to our own recruitment and to every supplier and subcontractor we engage. Suppliers are assessed before appointment and reviewed after it.
Recruitment
Eligibility to work in the UK is verified for all employees under a documented recruitment policy, to safeguard against trafficking or anyone being forced to work against their will.
Due diligence
We map the supply chain by product, logistics and country of origin, run supplier audits focused on slavery and trafficking, and hold a risk profile for each supplier. Substandard practice gets advice and a recommended action plan, not a quiet exit.
Speaking up
Employees can raise concerns about how colleagues are treated, or how our business and supply chain operate, without fear of reprisal. Training is provided to everyone, weighted towards procurement, HR and supply chain roles.
Governance
The Building Safety Act requires safety-critical information to be captured, kept accurate and passed on for the life of the building. We run a written Golden Thread Procedure to do it, with a Compliance Officer appointed at project initiation and accountable for the record throughout.
QMS built on ISO 9001:2015 principles, enquiry to handover.
Director-authorised and binding at every level of the business.
Our Quality Management System is developed in accordance with the principles of ISO 9001:2015. It covers every part of the business from initial enquiry to final handover, is authorised by the Directors, and adherence is mandatory at all levels of personnel.
We set measurable objectives and targets so improvement can be demonstrated and benchmarked against the industry, rather than asserted.
Our supply chain is held to the same line. Every member is required to demonstrate their own commitment to continual improvement and to work towards CBG's quality objectives.
